Roots of Wellness is our ongoing program designed to help you manage your health by learning about simple lifestyle changes you can make for better health. Participants in this free 11-week wellness program will learn about food as medicine, how to choose and afford healthy foods, gardening, physical activity and how to manage or prevent chronic diseases including diabetes and poor emotional health.

Cook your potatoes with the skin on!
This is where half of the potato’s fiber, much of its potassium, iron and many other important nutrients are found. The potato skin contains Vitamins B and C, calcium, and it is rich in phytochemicals, which may help to protect the body from chronic diseases.

Tomatoes are full of the antioxidant lycopene, which helps protect against damage to our cells, and may help lower the risk of some forms of cancer. Tomatoes are also high in Vitamin C which boosts our immune system and Vitamin A which promotes good vision, boosts our immune system, and promotes cell growth.
